The Broadstairs Food Festival is a celebration of local food and drink, with exhibitors chosen from Kent and surrounding counties. It consists of two separate free festivals, one held in the spring and the other in the autumn. They showcase independent food and drink producers, and are key events in the UK food festival calendar.
There are around 100 stalls at the food festival, as well as plenty of activities for the kids, workshops and tastings.
History of the Festival
The first festival was held in 2009 in order to promote local food and drink producers, as well as the high street. Community-led its aim was to encourage visitors to appreciate the charm of the coastal town and nearby Margate and Ramsgate. It has been a success story right from the start.
Sustainability
The Broadstairs food and drink festival has always had sustainability at its heart, with a commitment to sustainable sourcing and limiting its food miles. Exhibitors are asked not to use plastic bottles or non-recyclable cutlery. There is also a £1 eco levy on glasses at the main bar – which can be reclaimed at the end of the festival. This has helped cut waste in half since 2019.

The leading UK food festival will be from 27 to 29 September.

The festival is open from 10am until 6pm or 5pm on the final day.

How To Get There
Those arriving by bus should get off at The Royal Albion Hotel or the Wrotham Arms. If you are coming from London, the coach from Victoria takes approximately 90 minutes. Alternatively by rail it is around 2 hours from London Victoria or Charing Cross stations, or 80 minutes from St Pancras International Station.
