Is there a city in Africa – or the world for that matter – with a more beautiful backdrop than Cape Town with the majestic Table Mountains towering over it? In addition to dining by the harbour, a boat trip along the coastline comes well recommended. You can also visit Robben Island to see where Nelson Mandela was incarcerated for so many years. Perhaps even take in a game of cricket while you are here.
Possible the most scenic drive in South Africa is from Mossel Bay in the West Cape to Storms River in the East Cape, along the way enjoy the wonderful, rugged coastline and great beaches.
While arguably not as famed for its safaris as Tanzania, it is still possible to see the Big Five in South Africa. Possibly, the stand out safari park is Kruger National Park. And what better way to end a hard day’s driving than to settle down with a crisp glass of South African pinotage in your camp, and watch the sun slide away.
