Stunning Colorado with its magnificent scenery is a combination of most of the southern Rocky Mountains, and parts of the Colorado Plateau and the Great Plains. Named after the Colorado River, it was first established in 1876, and has a population of over five million.
One of the mountain states, it has just about everything that nature lovers would want to explore from canyons, mountains, plateaux, rushing rivers and desert land. The highest point is Lake County at 14,440 feet. It is the only American state which is 3,280 feet above sea level wherever you travel within the state’s boundaries.
The city of Denver has a magnificent setting. Located in the South Platte River Valley, it is on the western edge of the high plains, close to the Rocky Mountains, with one thousand Rocky Mountain Peaks within its territory. It is over five thousand feet above sea level, with a population of nearly 700,000. Visit the Denver Art Museum, the Denver Botanic Gardens and the Aquarium or just chill out and admire the scenery.
There are so, so many amazing things to do in the state. Go to the Red Rocks Amphitheatre, or the Strawberry Park Hot Springs, visit the Great Sand Dunes National Park or the Rocky Mountains National Park. If you like railways, take a trip on the Toffec Scenic Railroad. You will not be disappointed.
