There is more to travel than sharing our own experiences and snapshots – wonderful though they may be. At Travel Begins at 40, we have invited various tourism experts, as well as our own writers to give her and his opinion on what the key issues are facing the tourism industry in the first quarter of the twenty first century. Whether this is the downward spiral of mass tourism on the host community, the benefits that the industry can play on wildlife conservation in Africa, or community based tourism initiatives in Myanmar, at Travel Begins at 40, we have created the space for these important issues to be debated. Within this section we also have in depth interviews – profiles – with some of the people we believe or contributing significantly to responsible and local tourism initiatives. We all bear a responsibility for ensuring that our tourism is beneficial for the long term sustainability for the places that we visit. This is where we would like to hear your views too.
