Whitsun Escape to the New Forest

The New Forest National Park in Hampshire is the perfect place for a family Whitsun break and is just two hours from London. It is also easily accessible from both the west and the midlands.

New Forest Escapes is an eclectic collection of quirky homes that are set up for tranquillity, family adventures and big celebrations; here are just a few examples of properties that are still available for Whitsun half term, either for a short break or longer stay.

Number Two is a three-bedroomed town house (sleeps six plus two babies) set in the heart of Lymington on the New Forest’s coast. The property is under a minute’s walk to the vibrant high street which has had a Saturday market for over 900 years, and three minutes’ walk to the cobbled side streets which lead town to the Old Town Quay and busy marina and an excellent, dog-friendly pub. A four-night rental from 27 May costs £935.

Ploughman’s Cottage is a family-friendly cottage in East End, a pretty hamlet, near Lymington, which is also dog friendly so the family pet can also enjoy a break. The four-bedroomed house, which sleeps up to 10 people (six adults, two kids and two bairns), is just 1 km from the beach which has views towards the Isle of Wight, and next door to the gastro pub The East End Arms, which is owned by Dire Straits bassist John Ilsley. A three-night rental from 31 May costs £1565.

Slate Cottage (above) is the perfect answer for large families or for those wishing to holiday with friends.  Located in open Forest and close to the coast, the four-bedroomed house is a chic bolthole which sleeps up 11 people (plus two babies) and dogs are also welcome.  Meals can be enjoyed around the huge dining table which comfortably seats 12 people. A three-night rental from 31 May costs £1500.

Sunnydell is a family-friendly holiday cottage located in a large clearing close to the village of Burley.
