Staged in the historic hillside estate of Vittoriale degli italiani overlooking the shores of Lake Garda on the Gardone Riviera, The Festival del Vittoriale (20 June – 26 July 2019) presents a month-long line-up of musicians and bands.
The Smith’s Johnny Marr, Billy Corgan from the Smashing Pumpkins, Garbage, Diana Krall and James Morrison are just some of the international artists who will perform in the estate’s spectacular amphitheatre, with the Lake as a backdrop.
Just as culturally fascinating as the musical offering is Il Vittoriale itself. This house-museum, once owned by poet Gabriele D’Annunzio is an eccentric mausoleum of his adventures as an artist and world war one hero. As well as the amphitheatre, it contains a war museum, library, parkland, citadel and an old warship and a pond created in the shape of a violin in the middle of the park, which reveals his eccentric creative spirit.
Just an hour from Verona, this little known south west corner of Lake Garda is a popular spot for Italians seeking a cultural mini break, with plenty of local vineyards, waterfront strolls and authentic trattorias to fill the days and nights.
Tailor-made specialist to Lake Garda, Prestige Holidays is offering three nights’ B&B staying at the Hotel Bella Riva on the lakefront in the Gardone Riviera for £839 pp over the festival period including private return transfers and flights on Easyjet from London Gatwick to Verona.
