Silent Nights at Batty Langley’s Christmas

Take a step back in time to a Georgian Christmas in 2017 with Batty Langley’s and Dennis Severs’ House – two of London’s most astonishing next-door neighbours on Folgate Street, Spitalfields.

At No.12, Batty Langley’s is an unusual small hotel at the heart of Spitalfields. Next door, at No.18, Dennis Severs’ House reveals an intimate portrait of the lives of a family of Huguenot silk-weavers from 1724 – transporting visitors to life in Spitalfields more than two centuries ago. Combining the two together, especially at Christmas, makes for the most extraordinary of experiences.

Guests arriving at Batty Langley’s this Christmas will step into the most festive of places to stay – roaring fires, rich wreaths and garlands, cosy corners and a well-stocked honesty bar; the ideal spot to which to retreat on a crisp winters’ evening.

Braving the chill to nip next door, Dennis Severs’ House is more spectacular at Christmas than at any other time of year. The house’s Silent Night Christmas installation (19 November – 4 January) will allow guests to become a guest of the Gervais family, and join their 18th century Christmas celebration.

The decorated house is lit by fire and candlelight, with guests carefully guided through each room – in magical silence. An ‘Exclusive Silent Night’ visit goes one step further, allowing visitors to sit down by a roaring fire in one of the rooms for mulled wine and mince pies with the curatorial team.

Opened in 2015, Batty Langley’s is home to 29 bedrooms that are packed full of British humour, eccentricity and atmosphere. Behind the façade of a beautifully restored Heritage-listed building, on a quiet cobbled street, the quirky bedrooms are filled with antiques – and bucket loads of wit and charm. Perfect for those looking to escape the corporate norm, Batty Langley’s is a brilliant blend of history, design, and character… Just as all the best Christmas experiences should be.

Rates start from £320 per room, per night including taxes, based on two sharing, including two tickets for Silent Night at Dennis Severs’ House. From £380 including two Exclusive Silent Night tickets. Strictly subject to availability and must be booked in advance.
