New Jaipur to Jaisalmer Flight Saves Time

A new flight from Jaipur to Jaisalmer has replaced two days of driving on dusty roads and makes the beautiful Golden City of Jaisalmer on the edge of the Thar desert, with its stunning fortress, accessible within a two-week holiday.

“There is so much to see in India, but the distances are vast which limits what you can do during a two-week holiday; Rajasthan alone is over 132,000 sq miles – compared with the whole of the UK which is 93,600,” says Hugh Fraser, Director of Corinthian Travel. “The new flight from Jaisalmer effectively extends the holiday by two days and means we can include Jaisalmer on the edge of the Thar desert in one of our most popular itineraries.”

The flight is used on Corinthian Travel’s two-week Forts & Palaces of Rajasthan private, chauffeured tour of India’s most vibrant state.

Highlights will include the yellow-hued hill top fort of Amer with its famous hall of mirrors, the great bastions of Mehrangarh fort in Jodhpur, and the dreamy crenelated battlements of the ‘golden’ Sonar Qila in Jaisalmer. Also visited will be the jewel-encrusted Royal Chambers at the City Palace in Jaipur, Delhi’s Viceregal Palace (the official residence of the President of India) and the imposing and strikingly beautiful Taj Mahal.

Thanks to the new flight, another of the trip’s highlights is a ride on camelback across the desert dunes of Thar desert, spending a night under the stars in a desert camp. Also known as the Great Indian Desert and covering around 77,000 sqm, the desert forms a natural boundary between India and Pakistan.

The holiday can start any day of the week and costs from £2345 pp (two sharing a room). This includes private, chauffeured transport throughout, sightseeing and entrance fees as per the itinerary, 14 nights B&B (plus full board in desert camp) and a driver/guide.
