How to Holiday Like a Celeb in The Ionian Islands

Long gone are the days when the Greek islands were a magnet for frugal hippies. For 2018 Ionian Villas introduces new villas for those looking for a more private and exclusive escape.

Celebrities often opt for a villa with a chef so they can avoid confrontations in local shops and restaurants, with the incessant ‘selfie’ seekers.  One such property is Spiantzi in Paxos, which is located three bays south from Loggos, set on its own promontory in two, totally private acres of landscaped gardens, bordered by olive groves and cypress trees.  The five-bedroomed villa sleeps 10 people.

The villa has views along the coast of Paxos and across the open sea to Corfu and the Greek mainland. A private pathway leads down to a sheltered beach.  A 50m sq swimming pool and wrap-around terraces overlook the bay below. A week’s stay in May costs £12,500.

Ostria is a palatial, modern, six bedroomed villa, located in 10 acres of private grounds, overlooking Bolana Bay on the outskirts of Kassiopi in Corfu.  It looks directly on to Avlaki beach, which has two good tavernas, a small sailing and windsurfing club and boats for hire. Soukia beach is just a five-minute walk away.

The views are dramatic, looking over the hillsides of pine, olive and cypress towards the village houses of Kassiopi, along the Erimitis Peninsula, and across the sea to the coastline and mountains of Albania.  The house has a large swimming pool and comes with a chef in the summer months.  A week’s stay in late April costs from £9090 or around £757 per person.

Villa Asteria is located in one of the most desirable locations on the entire island of Lefkas.  The three-bedroomed property (sleeps six), sits on an upper hillside terrace above the kilometre long Kathisma beach, which offers watersports, sunbeds and sun umbrellas, tavernas and bars (it also has naturist beach areas).

The views are dramatic with a foreground of green forest, the shimmering white sands of the beach, coastlines of Paxos and AntiPaxos and dramatic sunsets.  The villa has wide pool terraces for both sun and shade.  A week’s stay costs from £372 per person when six people occupy the property.
