Glen Dye Launches Scottish Micro Festivals

The owners of the 30,000 acre Glen Dye estate are introducing new ways to connect with nature and ignite creativity with a series of micro festivals led by experts including River Cottage’s Gill Meller and foraging guru Roger Phillips.

Charlie and Caroline Gladstone already welcome guests to their cabins and cottages, surrounded by wilderness forest and moorland on the River Dye, and overlooked by Clachnaben.

Inspired by The Good Life Experience, which they co-host with Cerys Matthews in Wales, the Glen Dye camps offer intimate experiences for like-minded people to rewild their lives and their creativity, with nationally recognised experts.

The 2020 Camp Glen Dye series begins on 23 May with Rewild Yourself – a four night back-to-nature break taking in hikes, wild swimming, campfire feasts, fireside singalongs, bushcraft, foraging and wild cooking.

The series continues with Wild Wellness (5 to 8 June), a nature-based retreat designed to recharge and revitalise the mind and body; Wild Food (26 to 29 June), featuring how-to tutorials in fermentation, foraging, curing, cooking over fire and more, and a Craft Camp (9 to 11 October), where activities will include basketry, carving, leathercraft, printing, weaving and woodwork.

Among the experts leading Camp Glen Dye activities will be wild cooking expert Gill Meller; Olympic athlete turned fitness coach Tim Weeks; printmaker Tom Frost; mushroom master Roger Phillips; folk musician and author of Do Sing: Reclaim Your Voice James Sills; Fabulous Baker Brother Tom Herbert and Vivienne Rickman Poole, a wild swimmer whose #swimsnowdonia project was listed in the Guardian’s ‘10 Most Inspiring Adventures’.

Charlie Gladstone says, “One lesson we’ve learned from running The Good Life Experience is that people are craving more intimacy, connection and authenticity from their festival-going.

“Camp Glen Dye reflects this need. Each one is a carefully curated gathering where small groups of guests recharge in a stunningly beautiful natural setting, taking part in activities which genuinely interest them.”

Camp Glen Dye tickets start from £795 per person. On-site accommodation choices range from double/single rooms in Glen Dye’s designer cabins and cottages, a vintage Airstream, bell tent hire or BYO tent/camper van options.

Prices include breakfast, lunch and dinner with some alcohol included; all activities and materials; free use of the wood-fired oven and hot tubs and a helpful and locally knowledgeable on-call host.
