Castello di Vicarello: New Look for 2019

Castello di Vicarello, a luxury castle hotel situated between Rome and Florence in the untouched Maremma region of Tuscany’s rolling hills and Tyrrhenian Seaside, is opening for the season from 1 March 2019, with a variety of new offerings and a fresh look, for its guests.

From a brand-new Spa Suite and a newly launched al fresco menu, to a renovated private villa with its own wine cellar, guests can expect a renewed take on this 12th Century Castello, whilst maintaining its charm and exquisite level of service, which the hotel has become renowned for.

Acquired in the 1970s by Aurora and Carlo Baccheschi Berti, the couple and their family have lovingly restored the characterful building to offer a private Tuscan retreat that boasts contemporary influences and interiors from the family’s travels across the globe; with infusions of Middle-Eastern and Indonesian touches, accompanying the quintessentially Tuscan architecture and aesthetic, with unique pieces of art adorning the walls of the corridors and rooms. Now in the very capable hands of Aurora and Carlo’s son, Neri, careful consideration for the local surroundings and the comfort of guests, has culminated in a unique and modern design-led style and sense of relaxed elegance throughout the Castello.

Castello di Vicarello attracts discerning travellers looking for an authentic Tuscan experience, whilst not compromising luxury. Eight exquisitely appointed suites comfortably sleep 22 guests in total, whilst an attentive, yet discreet staff are on hand to adhere to every whim. The head chef and team create wholesome Italian cuisine, using ingredients from the gardens and local farmers produce, and meals can be taken in any part of the estate. No request is too big or too small, Neri and his dedicated team continue to offer the exact same charm and sophistication of a bygone era, with the efficiency of modern times.

At Castello di Vicarello, days are spent wondering the estate’s 40 hectares, which have been organic farmland for 25 years, producing wine, with Carlo Baccheschi Berti and his eldest son Brando establishing a highly successful award-winning vineyard with wine tastings as well as produce that supplies the hotel’s kitchen, including olive oil and vegetables
