Boutique hotel Tudor Farmhouse in Gloucestershire’s Forest of Dean has launched a Car-Free Escape for those looking to ditch their motor and embrace a slower-pace of life for the weekend. The new two night break has been designed to ensure guests are liberated (not limited) by going car-free and offers return transfers to the nearby train station, as well as lifts to nearby activities, bike delivery, local walking maps and a choice of dining options at the hotel’s two AA rosette restaurant.
“With car ownership in cities on the decline, and many fed up with battling rush hour traffic, we’ve noticed more and more guests arriving by train. The hotel is so well placed to offer a really peaceful rural experience yet still with convenient connections to all our activity suppliers we wanted to launch a new break to highlight just how easy it is to come and stay here without driving” commented Colin Fell, owner of the hotel.
After arriving at Lydney station, which is well connected to mainline stations such as Gloucester (under 20 minutes) and Cardiff (40 minutes) it’s an easy 15-minute drive to Tudor Farmhouse’s quiet Clearwell Village location via a complimentary taxi transfer.
Once there, borrow wellies and roam the hotel’s 14 acres or grab a walking map to explore one of the nearby trails which run straight from the doorstep. For guided back-to-nature experiences, guests can take part in half day foraging courses with the hotel’s very own expert Raoul van den Broucke or take advantage of the hotel’s bike delivery option and explore the forest on two wheels. The hotel has even partnered with a local activity provider to offer canoeing, kayaking and SUP on the River Wye, with all transfers taken care of. What’s more, a simple 15 minute stroll will take guests to Clearwell Caves, Puzzlewood, the Secret Forest and Perrygrove Railway.
