Calling Wine Lovers to Dubrovnik in April

Five years ago the Dubrovnik Festiwine event started as a celebration of the region’s wine. Now it has grown to an international wine fair attracting top winemakers from far and wide. The six regional wines in the Dubrovnik region still play an important part and there are also workshops, lectures, culinary demonstrations from top chefs showing perfect wine pairing with local specialities such as the famous Ston oysters.

FestiWine runs from 16-22 April and the big wine exhibition takes place over the weekend of 20-21 April in the historic Lazareti building. Other events are at Sunset Beach. Some events are free, some cost from around £17 per person. Many of the city’s restaurants display the “Wine Friendly” emblem showing that they have great wines on offer at special prices.

Grab your wine escape – a five night stay, departing 18 April, with Easyjet flights from Gatwick to Dubrovnik, shared transfers and accommodation on B&B basis at Hotel Vis starts from £424 per person based on two sharing. (01425 480400,www.prestigeholidays.co.uk/croatia)
