What’s New in Madrid This Summer

Madrid has for decades been one of the highlights of any trip to Europe, here we round up some of the new delights to savour in the Spanish capital.

Discover a piece of Ibiza in Madrid…Sa Brisa Restaurant

Visitors to Madrid will this month be able to experience a touch of the Ibizan coast in the Spanish Capital, welcoming the much-loved Sa Brisa Restaurant to Menéndez Pelayo street in the Retiro district. Recognised as the gastronomic hub of Madrid, the aim of the restaurant is to introduce Ibizan fusion cuisine to the capital and put Mediterranean produce on the map. The restaurant’s menu created by executive chef Gonzalo Aragüez, will keep some of the Ibizan restaurant’s most loved dishes including the potera squid hot dog, boiled fish croquettes, and farmhouse bread made with xeixa flour grown locally on the island of Ibiza. Local producers have been incorporated into the restaurants ethos, and have brought local ingredients including oil, salt, meat or fish to the capital’s steps to spread awareness of the Mediterranean’s high-quality produce and culinary flair. San Mateo makes a comeback, introducing Madrid’s newest cocktail hotspot San Mateo Circus

Madrid’s newest cocktail hotspot in the heart of the trendy and bohemian Malasaña neighborhood, San Mateo Circus, is the reincarnation of the popular San Mateo Seis, which was hailed throughout the 80s, 90s and early 2000s, as the ‘IT’ place to be for Madrileñan socialites. The reinvention of San Mateo boasts a new and exciting concept, aiming to recreate the feelings of joy, fun, and excitement associated with the circus in the 1940’s, through the edgy Art Deco aesthetic and captivating audio-visual and cinematic experiences. Visitors to the bar can enjoy quirky cocktails, 15 of which feature ecological juices and probiotic ingredients, a simple yet diverse health conscious menu, an extensive choice of both national and international ecological wines and craft beers and a carefully selected offer of spirits, from 4.00 pm to 03.00 am.
