Holidaymakers Invited to See Another Side of Turkey

Travel Department, Ireland’s leading tour provider of guided group holidays creates a brand new tour exploring a different side of Turkey. Famous for its historical ruins, this itinerary has been designed to uncover another layer of the country’s fascinating past.

Travellers who book a guided tour to the Highlights of Turkey incl. Istanbul, Cappadocia and Antalya will have the opportunity to discover unexpected pieces of history and culture in one trip.

Claire Doherty, Product Director says, “At Travel Department, we want to take you somewhere you’ve never been before; somewhere unexpected but somewhere you wonder why it wasn’t on your bucket list before.

“Although this itinerary has been designed with history lovers in mind, this guided holiday is suitable for everyone. Turkey has so much to offer in the way of beautiful landscapes, the world’s largest and oldest covered market, pebble beaches or old town shopping. We’ve thought of it all, so you don’t have to!”

Fitting multiple sights and attractions across the country in one holiday, plus one day for leisure time and smooth transitions, is Travel Department’s specialty. Flights, transfers, accommodation, excursions and a local expert guide are all included in the price and have been organised impeccably to provide a once in a lifetime experience.

The new eight-night holiday starts in Istanbul; a walking tour with a local guide visits a city once known as Constantinople as well as iconic landmarks such as the Blue Mosque, St. Sophia Mosque, the Egyptian Obelisks and the Roman Hippodrome. From Istanbul, fly to Cappadocia which is renowned for Byzantine Churches, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the ancient underground city of Kaymakli. Next, transfer by coach to Konya where the Mevlana Museum is home to important artifacts, manuscripts, priceless Qurans, and gardens filled with fountains, roses, and tombstones.

Antalya is the last stop on the Highlights of Turkey; a walking tour uncovers the historical area, including the Clock Tower and Hadrian’s Gate. Also, a full day guided excursion to Side and Aspendos is included, home to ancient Roman ruins such as the Temple of Apollo and the well-preserved amphitheatre. From cobbled streets to the Duden waterfalls, Turkey has a lot to offer every holidaymaker.
