Saint Andrews, New Brunswick Voted Best Destination in Canada

The year 2017 saw the delightful town of Saint Andrews voted as the very best destination in the whole of Canada by USA Today’s readers. Located in the Province of New Brunswick, Saint Andrews was selected out of 20 other expert-chosen nominees for the prestigious title. Now the quaint seaside town has been highlighted as one of Canada’s hot spots, visitors all over the world have been flocking for a taste of charming Canadian life, and the picturesque location has climbed its way to the top of 2018’s must-visit destinations.

Regarded as one of North America’s most beautiful and affluent resort towns, Saint Andrews attracts both local visitors as well as international travellers who wish to sample the region’s excellent seafood, dramatic scenery, and magnificent wildlife.

The award was a result of ‘USA Today’s 10 Best’; a reader’s choice contest that covers food, accommodation and travel experiences from across the globe. Up against stiff competition, the quaint seaside town won against major metropolises such as Montreal, Ottawa and Niagara.

Widely acclaimed as a hub of creativity, and artistic expression, Saint Andrews embraces its architectural legacy through the distinguishing styles of its buildings, ranging from artfully designed Georgian town houses to brightly coloured harbours. The National Historic District is also the home to the Kingsbrae Garden; a 27-acre horticultural masterpiece made up of themed gardens, mazes, and windmills.

Excellent for gastronomes, Saint Andrews is famous for seafood, boasting some of the best lobster rolls in the entire Province. Channelling a farm-to-table approach to dining, Kingsbrae Garden’s award-winning fine-dining restaurant Savour in the Garden is noted for its traditional New Brunswick dishes which have been composed using both ingredients directly grown on the grounds, as well as local fisherman and suppliers. With a culinary scene to be proud of, the seaside town hosts an October foodie festival that sees both locals and tourists enjoying cocktails masterclasses, wine and cheese pairings, and freshly caught seafood.

Saint Andrews is one the very best locations in Canada to see whales in their natural habitat. Travellers can voyage past sunning seals, lighthouses and beautiful landscapes to the playground of the porpoise and majestic whales of the Bay of Fundy. Keen cyclists can also hop on a bike and experience the town and the surrounding areas, such as the beautiful Minister’s Island, on a variety of biking trails that showcase the region’s remote beauty.

While the town might hold a population of just under 2,000, Saint Andrews is bursting with adventures for animal lovers, foodies, and history buffs; guaranteeing those travelling to the seaside town are promised a quintessential Canadian experience in the country’s best destination.
