Qantas has launched an exciting new flight path between Orange and Sydney meaning the regional highlights of New South Wales are even more accessible than ever.
Launching on 1 May, the airline will be adding 45,000 seats on the route each year, opening a wealth of new opportunities to see the stunning region.
This new addition means even more visitors and tourists can experience the amazing things that Orange has to offer. From award-winning restaurants, boutique shops, beautiful landscaped gardens and bustling markets, the area is famed for its fresh produce, cool climate wines, colourful foliage and snowy winters, and is gorgeous getaway on Sydney’s door step.
Mount Canobolas
The majestic Mount Canobolas is a dormant volcano that formed millions of years ago when Australia was sitting over a hotspot in the earth’s crust, with its rich soil, high altitude and cool climate, it’s the perfect environment for a range of plants and animals. The area also offers fantastic birdwatching spots and is great for avid walkers, offering magnificent scenic views, lots of pretty picnic spots and a great campground; it’s a superb location for little weekend getaway.
Wine vineyards
High altitude rich volcanic soils and passionate producers come together in Orange to create some of the best cool climate wines in Australia. Dating back to the 1990’s, there are over 60 vineyards in Orange creating buttery chardonnays, fragrant shiraz and rich cabernet sauvignon. Visitors can immerse themselves in a range of unique winery experiences catering to all wine enthusiasts such Heifer Station which offers tastings in a 100 year old shearing shed, farm animals to pet and private picnics on the gorgeous estate, Swinging Bridge hosts a gorgeous sunny terrace for tasting or on the slopes of Mount Canobolas where visitors will find the De Salis vineyard with 180 degree views over the valley below.

For those wanting to feed their buying addiction, there’s plenty options in Orange. With a great selection of independent stores and boutiques, selling everything from shoes, jewellery and original artwork to delicious food and drink, Orange is one of the region’s top shopping destinations. Head to The Sonic in Orange for an exciting selection of clothing, accessories and homewares from some of Australia’s top designers. A short stroll down the street, The White Place is a great destination for stylish furniture, cushions and rugs or head to the quaint village of Millthorpe which has an impressive selection of charming boutiques and art shops.
Feeling Cultural
Orange has a rich history, from the original Aboriginal custodians and owners, the Wiradjuri people, to the gold rush of the 1800’s. It was the home of an array of colourful characters and is dotted with beautiful heritage towns and villages. Visitors can take a tour to learn about the region’s past, visit one of the museums or simply stroll through the streets to immerse themselves in this historic region.
