New Croatia Travel Entry Rules

New rules came into effect recently in Croatia according to European Commission recommendations for travel across borders, detailing what tourists require in order to visit the country.

“EU citizens, as well as non-EU citizens, who have either recovered or been vaccinated or have a negative PCR or EU-approved Antigen test, will be able to enter Croatia for tourist reasons”, said Croatian minister of tourism and sports, Nikolina Brnjac.

“We have intensified preparations for the upcoming tourist year, we are arranging additional points for testing in tourist places in order to make our tourists’ stay in the Republic of Croatia as pleasant and safe as possible,” she added.

To be allowed to enter Croatia, travellers must present confirmation of booked accommodation as well as one of the following:

  • Negative PCR test not older than 48hr at the time of arrival at the Croatian border
  • Negative rapid antigen test for SARS-CoV-2, listed on the Common List of Rapid Antigen Tests recognised by the Member States of the European Union, published by the European Union commission. The test must not be older than 48hrs at the time of arrival at the Croatian border. If a traveller is presenting a negative antigen test, and is planning to remain in Croatia for longer than 10 days, during their stay they must do another test which should be done within the 10 days of receiving the results of their 1st test.
  • Vaccination certificate, for persons who received their second vaccine dose more than 14 days prior to travel.
  • Confirmation of having recovered from COVID in the 180 days leading to travel, by providing either a physician’s note, or proof of positive PCR or antigen test, not older than 180 days, and not more recent than 11 days prior to arrival at the Croatian border.
  • If it is not possible to produce a test at the border, a mandatory self-isolation will be necessary until the person has tested in Croatia, and they have received negative results.

All third country nationals will be allowed to entry in the Republic of Croatia if they adhere to one of the four above mentioned preconditions and if they have confirmation of paid accommodation in a hotel, camp, private renter or rented vessel and other form of tourist accommodation or are owners of houses or vessels in the Republic of Croatia.

Children under the age of seven traveling with a parent / guardian are exempted from presenting a negative test result and self-isolation if the parents / guardians have a negative PCR or rapid antigen test, or confirmation of vaccination or recovery from COVID-19.
