Mark Bibby Jackson: Climate Friendly Travel Podcast

Travel Begins at 40 founder and editor Mark Bibby Jackson was interviewed this month by Ged Brown, of Low Season Traveller, as part of the SunX Malta Climate Friendly Travel Podcast series.

The podcast covers a range of topics from Mark’s initial introduction to ecotourism in Costa Rica in the late 1990s to establishing Travel Begins at 40, and becoming a student with SunX Malta on their first ever Climate Friendly Travel diploma course.

In the podcast, Ged and Mark exchange their views on how travel and tourism will develop in the post-Covid worls and whether the pandemic has changed people’s perspective towards travel.

In the Climate Friendly Travel podcast Mark presents the case for regenerative tourism and the positive role that it can play, citing examples from his recent travels including visiting a vegan hotel in Brandenburg and seeing at first hand how the German state has converted its industrial past into a green tourism present. He also describes how certain tourism authorities, such as the Wilder Kaiser region in Austria have ‘got it’ in terms of understanding the transformative and positive role that tourism can play.

You can listen to the podcast, which lasts for around 25 minutes at the top of this post.
