Interested in Food Festivals?

The last couple of decades has seen an explosion in the number of food festivals both in the UK and around the world.

World Foodie Festivals

Around the world, foodies are celebrating the plenitude that nature has on offer, from Wonderfruit Festival in Thailand to the Gilroy Garlic Festival in California, and Japan’s Sapporo Summer Festival to the Gentse Feesten in Belgium. Part of the rising popularity is in vegan food, but be careful about your choice or you could end up with more than you bargained for, such as at the Phuket Vegetarian Festival.

Foodie Festivals in UK

Perhaps, nowhere has embraced the concept of festivals of food more than the UK, the nation of foodies; especially if they turn out to be food and drink festivals. One of the oldest and most established is the Ludlow Food Festival, but foodie festivals are appearing all over the places from Abergavenny Food Festival in Wales to Devon’s Food Rocks and Yorkshire’s Malton Food Festival.
Niche Foodie Festivals
Indeed, so popular is the celebration of the culinary art in the UK that there are numerous festivals paying homage to just one type of food. From the Lincoln Sausage Festival to the Isle of Wight Garlic Festival and the Alresford Watercress Festival, Brits have taken the concept so much to heart that they even have an Pancake Race in Olney.

Food Festivals in London

The capital is no exception to this rule. While bucking the vegan trend, carnivores can head to Meatopia London, or if you like your cuisine with a Caribbean twist then the Notting Hill Carnival is for you. In addition to being the biggest party in the capital, there is a wonderful array of West Indian cuisine.

Indian Food Festivals

Finally, if you want to attend culinary cultural festivals, then India is the place to be. From Onam Festival to Holi Festival, and Diwali Festival to Ganesh Chaturthi Festival, there are so many festivals in India, all of which have a healthy helping of nosh thrown in.
