Every February, Canada‘s Capital comes alive with the Ottawa Winterlude Festival. This magnificent event, held in the Ottawa region over the first three weekends of the month, draws an average of 600,000 visitors.

Participants revel in the festivities and experience the joys of Canadian winter. The festival features stunning ice sculptures, offers the chance to skate on the renowned Rideau Canal Skateway — a UNESCO World Heritage Site — and invites you to have endless fun in the vast snow playground known as Snowflake Kingdom.

Flights to Ottawa from the UK

From March 31 2025, BA will run direct flights from Heathrow to Ottawa, but don’t fret in the meantime you can fly with Air Canada via Halifax Nova Scotia. This will allow you to catch the magnificent Nova Scotia Lobster Crawl which is held in February.

The time in Ottawa is Eastern Standard Time which means it is GMT -4, so when it is 9am in London it is a frosty 4am in Ottawa.
