Celebrate the Great Outdoors with the annual Walking East Yorkshire Festival held from 14 to 22 September, 2024.

The walking festival highlights the Yorkshire Wolds landscape that has so inspired the artist David Hockney, as well as its spectacular coastline and some very interesting cities. Walks are deliberately designed to appeal to walkers of all capabilities.

However, the festival is not just about walking in East Yorkshire, as activities are arranged to appeal to cyclists, horse riders, history buffs and nature lovers, as well as of course hikers.

A full list of all the walks in this year’s walking festival can be found here.

Alternatively, sample the scenery of the Yorkshire Landscapes that has been so important in influencing the work one of Britain’s most popular artists from Woldgate to Bridlington, Hockney’s former home town.

See the village of Warter that inspired Hockney to create his Bigger Trees in the Yorkshire Wolds, or Thixendale of ‘The Three Trees near Thixendale’.
