Welcome to the world’s largest celebration of storytelling, rooted in Scotland, a nation with a rich tradition of oral storytelling. The Scottish International Storytelling Festival (SISF) provides a platform for all levels of storytellers, offering workshops led by professional narrators and opportunities for skills development.

Bridges Between: Celebrating 35 Years of Storytelling

The 2024 edition of the Scottish International Storytelling Festival marks its 35th anniversary, coinciding with the 35th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall. Since its inception in 1989, the festival has built metaphorical bridges across cultures, artists, and audiences worldwide, all through the timeless art of storytelling. This year’s theme, ‘Bridges Between’, encourages reflection on the walls, both literal and figurative, that exist in our societies. It invites participants to transcend boundaries and celebrate 35 years of shared narratives, while also looking forward to the future of storytelling.
