Legendary snooker player turned DJ, Steve Davis is to headline Psychic Dancehall festival in Derby.
The initial lineup for the Psychic Dancehall Festival in Derby, set for 22 March 2025, features The Utopia Strong as headliners. This “kosmische electronic trio” includes Steve Davis, the renowned World Champion snooker player, Kavus Torabi of Knifeworld, Cardiacs and Gong, and Mike York from Coil. They are currently celebrated for their critically lauded 2022 album, ‘International Treasure.’
The music festival was conceived by James Thornhill, a music journalist, DJ, and promoter based in Derby. “This will be a high-profile event for the city and will have the attention of national music media and other media outlets,” he says.

Psychic Dancehall Festival Lineup
James Adrian Brown, Rosie Tee, and Hawksmoor are among the first acts announced for the Psychic Dancehall festival, which will feature a variety of electronic and experimental artists.
Birmingham-based composer and performer Rosie Tee, known for blending electronica, jazz, psych, and avant-pop, will bring a full band show to Psychic Dancehall. She’ll showcase her acclaimed mini-album ‘Night Creature,’ released this year under her Kikimora Records label. Kikimora will also serve as curation partners for the festival, presenting a wide array of electronic artists from across the UK with music that defies easy categorization.
Former Pulled Apart By Horses guitarist and electronic music explorer James Adrian Brown will join the lineup alongside Hawksmoor, known for their hauntological, Krautrock-inspired sound, who have recently signed with Soul Jazz Records’ non-archival roster.
Christian Davies, formerly of Nottingham indie-rock icons Six By Seven, introduces his new act TR^NKS, which fuses big beats with shoegaze elements for an anthemic experience. Completing the first six acts is Derby-based producer James Glew, who also runs the monthly Electronic Music Open Mic (EMOM) night at Dubrek Studios.
