Premiers Plans d’Angers is an international film festival held in Northern France each January. This year marks the 36th edition of the festival which was established with the aim of discovering new filmmaking talent and highlighting the diversity of European cinema.
Premiers Plans d’Angers 2024
Festival Premiers Plans 2024 will honour the work of British director Ken Loach. Films included in his retrospective include Kes; My Name Is Joe; and I, Daniel Blake.
The festival will also honour the work of French actress Isabelle Hubert, including a screening of The Piano Teacher, as well as Spanish director Carla Simón, and the sadly departed Jane Birkin.
With the Paris Olympics held this year, Premiers Plans will also focus on sport in cinema, including a screening of Tony Richardson’s classic The Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner.
Premiers Plans d’Angers Competition
Approximately 100 films feature in competition at the festival in seven categories. There is also a workshop aimed at assisting filmmakers producing their first feature film.

It will be held from 20 to 28 January.
Where Is It?
It is held in the city of Angers in the Loire valley, France. Films will be screened at: Centre de Congrès Jean-Monnier; Cinémas Les 400 Coups; Pathé Angers; Grand Théâtre; La Collégiale Saint-Martin; Le Joker’s; and Le Quai CDN.

Tickets cost €8.50 per session (€6 concessions). Individual passes are also available.
