Malmo might be the pink city, but in Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania they celebrate their love for pink soup. Don’t worry it is not as bad as it sounds as Lithuanian pink soup is actually a cold beetroot soup or šaltibarščiai. However at the Pink Soup Fest in June, locals take their love of the soup a step further.
Lithuanian Pink Soup
In addition to consuming vast quantities of the Lithuanian delicacy, locals and visitors dress in pink, as the city gets a barbie makeover. Even Vilnius’ TV Tower will be dressed in pink just for the occasion.
But this is no food festival like you have ever experienced as Bastion Hill is transformed into a giant slide from which participants hurl themselves into a vast soup bowl.
Alternatively, you could just enjoy the great views from the summit.
When Is the Pink Soup Fest?
In 2024, it will be on 1 June.
Where Is the Festival?
Vast quantities of Lithuanian pink soup will be consumed in Tymo market and all over Vilnius, Lithuania.
