On Saturday, 21 September 2024, Palma de Mallorca will be transformed into an open-air art museum for the annual Nit de l’Art, hosted by Art Palma Contemporani (APC). Celebrating its 20th anniversary, the APC is presenting the most extensive schedule in the history of Nit de l’Art.
This complimentary event will feature art galleries and museums throughout Palma’s historic centre remaining open from 6pm to 11pm. Additionally, local artists’ works will be showcased in cafes, bars and on balconies, turning the city into a vibrant open-air exhibition. In anticipation of the art and culture season, each gallery will offer its own programme of free guided tours in English and other activities leading up to the main event, culminating in free admission for visitors.
Nit de l’Art 2024
Each of the 13 venues offers a unique and thrilling programme. This year, the Nit de l’Art schedule will be enhanced by a new addition: The Tube Gallery. Established in June 2023, this vibrant art gallery specialises in contemporary art and is set to unveil a new exhibition by Scottish cross-disciplinary artist Max Boyla.
L21 is set to host an ambitious project featuring over 50 artists in an innovative and transformative format across its three floors. The Major Gallery will showcase a solo exhibition by José Maria Yturralde in Pollensa, while Aba Art Lab will exhibit the latest works of Mallorcan landscape painter Rafel Joan. In addition, Fermay Gallery will display the creations of Scottish artist Janice McNab, renowned for her paintings that delve into the presence of women’s bodies through still life.
The solo exhibition “Modular Genealogy” by Valencian artist Robert Ferrer i Martorell promises to be a standout event, utilising plastic to delve into the concepts of precision, abstraction, and chaos. This exhibition will adopt an innovative format, spanning across two distinct galleries: Xavier Fiol Gallery and Pep Llabrés Art Contemporani.
Fran Reus Gallery, established in 2016 to showcase young and emerging artists, is presenting two individual solo exhibitions: one featuring Motion Designer & 3D Artist Sebastian Burguer, and the other showcasing works by Polish Postwar & Contemporary artist Stachu Szumski.
