The Newbury Spring Festival is a mix of classical, jazz, folk and chamber music thrown in for good measure. It will take place from 11 to 25 May 2024.
Newbury Spring Festival 2024 Highlights
Concerts will be performed at St Nicolas’ Church including the London Mozart Players (Saturday 11 May) and The London Philharmonic Orchestra (Saturday 18 May). The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra will close the festival with a performance of Sibelius’ symphonies and Wagner’s Wesendonk Leider.
There will also be a series of chamber music with Ukrainian pianist Vadym Kholodenko, Calefax Reed Quintet, Kinsky Trio Prague and Takács Quartet
Tamsin Waley-Cohen and Cordelia Williams, Manu Brazo and Bryan Evans, and Catrin Finch and Aoife Ni Bhriain will also perform at the leading UK classical music festival .
Newbury’s Corn Exchange will host a tribute to Dizzy Gillespie by the National Youth Jazz Orchestra, as well as the Mugenkyo Taiko Drummers, folky Kabantu (Wednesday 15 May) and Indian Classical Music. Tim Kliphuis will close Corn Exchange music performances with his trio performing Django Meets Mussorgsky.
The festival will also have plenty of activities for the kids including sailing with groovy pirates or seeing the world from the eyes of Thumbelina.
