Kynren Bishop Auckland

Every summer, a spectacular production with a 1,000-member cast and crew of volunteers unfolds on a 7.5-acre stage, equivalent to five football fields, featuring magnificent horses and a variety of other animals. It takes place before an audience of 8,000 in an amphitheatre called the Tribune.

KynrenThe Kynren show comes alive with grand sets, extensive choreography, combat, stunts, skilled horsemanship, pyrotechnics, and incredible special effects, such as water jets and advanced video projections.

Nathan Stornetta, an award-winning composer, has collaborated with the renowned film score legend Hans Zimmer, known for Gladiator, The Dark Knight Rises, and Pirates of the Caribbean, to create the stirring soundtrack for Kynren, which captures the essence of drama and excitement.

The narrative is brought to life by the unique voice of Kevin Whately, famed for his roles in Auf Wiedersehen Pet, Inspector Morse, and Lewis. In Kynren, Kevin voices Old Arthur, a character who unveils the secret of time travel to Young Arthur, thus beginning his journey of enlightenment and understanding the significance of ‘Kynren.’

And it all concludes with the spectacular Kynren fireworks.

What Does Kynren Mean?

The term ‘Kynren’ resonates with the Anglo-Saxon word ‘cynren,’ signifying generation, kin, or family, mirroring the spirit of camaraderie among the participants in the production.
