Expressions of Life: Judith Godwin

Judith Godwin Green for Danger, 1982

Judith Godwin

Expressions of Life is the first solo exhibition by Judith Godwin in Europe. It will run at the Pippy Houldsworth Gallery in London from 26 January to 9 March, 2024.

Judith Godwin

Godwin was associated with the Abstract Expressionist movement in her native America. She has featured in major exhibitions at the Whitechapel Gallery, Fondation Vincent van Gogh Arles, Denver Museum of Art and Dallas Art Museum that have reappraised the role of women in abstract art in the 20th century.

Born in Virginia, her career was supported by the art dealer Betty Parsons, and she was heavily influenced by Martha Graham who she met in the 1950s.

Expressions of Life

The exhibition features art from Godwin from the 50s to the end of the twentieth century. It assesses the importance of this much neglected artist.
