Calderón’s classic Life is a Dream is an astounding drama about free choice, fate, and the wonder of life is tackled cheek by jowl, performed at the Barbican this April.
A prince is chained in a mountain. while a woman dressed as a man seeks vengeance, or is this merely a dream?
Life is a Dream, one of the most well-known and much analysed plays by Spanish playwright Pedro Calderón de la Barca, was named one of the top 40 plays of all time by The Independent.
This is Cheek by Jowl’s first Spanish-language production, which is being performed by a cast of Spanish actors. Directed by Declan Donnellan and designed by Nick Ormerod.
